What is a Policy Type?
The Policy Type you choose depends on the locations of the move and the level of coverage you seek. Many policies are based on your origin and destination addresses, from state to state or from country to country, for example. Other types include coverage for automobiles, total loss only and other add-on policies.

What does Declared Value mean?
Declared Value is the replacement cost for insured household goods. You may insure specific items (Full Replacement Value - Valued Inventory) or all of your goods (Full Replacement Value - Lump Sum). For both plans, a declared value represents the replacement cost of all of your insured goods.

What if I can't find my Moving Company?
If your moving company is not listed, first check the spelling and that you have selected the first letter of the company name. If, after those steps, you are still unable to find your company, you many still get a quote using the general rates. Please note that these rates might differ slightly from your company’s actual rates.
If your company is not listed it might mean that they are not a registered affiliate. In order to purchase a policy from MovingInsurance.com, your moving company must be registered. If you would like to register your moving company, call 888-893-8835 (International customers dial 973-509-9814) and we will be begin the process. We cannot guarantee that your company will become an affiliate since they must decide to join the network of affiliates.

What is a Moving Broker?
A Moving Broker is a company that operates through a set of carriers to perform their moves. These carriers are the companies that will actually handle the move, so it is these companies that must be identified to receive an accurate quote. Moving Brokers are quite common, and there are many registered with MovingInsurance.com.

I selected a company that is a Moving Broker, but I don't see my carrier listed.
If you have selected a company that is a moving broker, and you do not see your carrier listed, it is possible that the carrier is not registered with us. See the above question "What if I can't find my Moving Company" for more information.

What is a Deductible?
The deductible you choose determines the rate and cost of the policy you are seeking to purchase. This is a one time deductible and NOT per item claimed. MovingInsurance.com does not offer a $0 level deductible.
