Self Storage Association

Self Storage is an integral part of the relocation process. Whether storage is only being utilized for a short period or over the long term, self storage facilities are used by many customers. We found it appropriate to include a link to the association representing this industry in this section.

The Self Storage Association (SSA) represents the $220 billion+ (market cap value) and $22.6 billion (annual revenues) self storage industry in the United States that comprises 51,223 primary facilities with more than 2.2 billion rentable square feet. Also, the SSA represents members in Canada and 18 other nations around the globe.

2008 will mark the 33rd Anniversary of the SSA, the only national U.S. not-for-profit (501-c-6) organization serving the industry. The SSA represents more than 6,000 U.S. member companies as direct or indirect members (via 23 affiliated state associations) that own and operate some 20,000 facilities in the United States. Also, the SSA is affiliated with several international associations representing another 5,000 facilities worldwide, in Canada and in twelve European nations, in Australia, Asia, South Africa, South America, Central America and in the Caribbean.
